Demolition.

I'm going backwards in a sense, but wanted to show all of the progress we have made on the house. To give you a little background, it was my grandfather's house that was built in 1950. It is one of the only brick houses on the street and I love the neighborhood that we are in, but the house just needed a few changes to accommodate our lifestyle. Below are pictures we we first started the demolition. I had no idea what to expect, but there was no turning back now.

Building cabinets.

Adam and I looked many times at cabinet stores and hardware stores to buy cabinets for our new kitchen. I fell in love with many different designs...all very expensive. Since we already have a unique kitchen design and Adam built cabinets when he was in high school, I trusted him with designing our cabinets. SCARY!

This piece will hold our downdraft stovetop and ideally will be our island for the kitchen. I hope to update more frequently to show the process. Adam will be leaving to go back to work on August 12, so he has a three week deadline just to get our appliances in the house.

Before Pictures of the Kitchen.

Here are all of the before pictures that we posted to HGTV's Web site last year. We didn't get any feedback but decided to start the remodel after many discussions on how it should be done.

Finally Married.

We finally tied the knot! A little late with my blog, but we became The Fikes on March 27, 2010. Our closest friends and mainly family were able to join us on this very special day.

Now after things settled down a little, Adam is in the midst of renovating our house! I spent days and hours getting ready for the wedding ceremony, now he's spending days and hours getting our house ready for its final reveal. With Adam, there is always a project happening around him and sometimes more than one at a time. He built us a deck on the front of the house, a trellis growing with jasmine and wisteria, a grapevine, a brand new shed, and now the whole inside of our house is under construction.

Updates with pictures of before and after the process are soon to come!
