Adam's Birthday.

I'd like to wish a big 'ole Happy Birthday to my dear sweet husband, Adam. If I was good at cake decorating, I'd make this for him. It's the thought that counts right?

He's not in town right now, but will be back this week and we plan to celebrate this weekend for our one year anniversary as well. Happy Birthday to the most understanding and patient husband!

Basics to Organizing.

I want to be one of those people with a picture perfect house. Where you can walk in and not see a spot of dust or dirt anywhere. How do they do it? We are still partly in the renovation process because we haven't finished and there is dust from construction everywhere and small projects are still not complete. I just never have the time to focus on making the house absolutely spotless.

As you can tell, Adam and I are always very on the go. We plan events out way ahead of time because of his work schedule and we like to stay busy while he is in town. Who has time to clean and organize an entire house? It's one of our goals for the year. Adam sent me this article from HGTV called, Know the Organizing Basics, a four-step guide for organizing any room, plus 13 strategies to prevent procrastination.

We're on top of it next time he's home! I'm ready to go!

The Commercial Rental.

I was talking to Adam online today and he found the commercial rental property on Google maps. I was able to save some of the old photos from the website. This is what we have been seeing next to our residential rental property for the past two years. YUCK. It's a big project, but I can't wait until it is complete and we unveil.

Fishing on the Rig.

Adam is working on a drilling ship in the Gulf of Mexico. On this particular ship, they crew members are allowed to fish in their off time. Adam has brought a couple of different rods and reels out there and he's broken a few and had some bad luck. So, we went shopping for him some new fishing supplies. Here's something that he bought just a couple of days ago. He better be bringing me home some fish with this!
It's a Shimano TLD 30A. TLD Two Speed reels are tough. The two speed gear ratios are tough on fish, yet easy on you. High gear makes it easy to maintain tension on the charging game fish. Low gear gives you a mechanical advantage when pulling a stubborn fish from the depths.
Changing gears is quick and easy since the dual drive and pinion gears are continuously meshed. Water proof graphite drag is smooth and long lasting.

The photo below is a photo of the Blackfin Tuna that Adam is fishing for. Hopefully I will be able to learn how to cook it too. He brought home close to 35 pounds after his last hitch.
Fish fry anyone?

Wedding Gifts.

Wedding Etiquette states that guests have up to one year after the wedding to send a gift(which is generally accepted).

This weekend, I was able to see a family friend, Ms. Geeker, at a causal family gathering. She gave me a wedding gift and told me and Adam to open it together, it was very heavy. I wanted to open it so badly, but waited so that Adam and I could open it together.

Ms. Geeker told me and and Adam at separate times to make sure that we read her special note inside. She know how much I love to cook, so she bought me the book Julie and Julia with a handwritten note on which paragraph to read first in the back of the book. She also bought us the Deluxe Boxed Set Edition of Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

I can't wait to get started!! Should be a fun adventure, but I have to get Adam to watch the movie Julie and Julia first!
