Learning to pick your battles.

I went to go visit my sister recently in North Carolina. We were talking about watching television shows and movies. Lindsay and I don't laugh at jokes that we see on television normally. Now don't get me wrong, we think lots of things are funny and amusing but we don't actually laugh out loud. I guess it's just our personality. While we were on this topic she did tell me that she read something recently that made her laugh while she was reading, not giggle, but truly laugh. I told her I wanted to read the article.

Here is it - I'm warning you...
You.Will.Laugh.

I posted this link on my Facebook page and also on my best friend Cassie's Facebook page with the comment, "We would do this." My husband thinks that the girls in this story are stupid for doing it....I think it's hilarious.

Last week, my best friend Cassie went on a road trip and sent me this photo. I burst out laughing in public...

Sadly Sickly.

I've been on my couch for the past couple of days - which if you know me isn't fun for me at all. A couple of weeks ago I didn't feel well and left work feeling weak. I went home and had a fever for about 24 hours. It went away and of course I just thought it was a 24 hour bug. The next week my fever came back with a headache just for a little while followed by a painfully sore throat. Finally I bit the bullet and went to the doctor just for a strep test. It came back negative and I thought I would just be able to get over this crud. Over the weekend my throat became really sore and it became too uncomfortable so I went to the doctor Monday morning. After waiting about an hour, I finally was able to see my doctor and he told me I had blisters in the back of my throat. He then felt around on my stomach and my spleen was hurting because it was a little inflamed. He told me that I either had rhinovirus or coxsackievirus (hand, foot and mouth disease).

As he is writing my prescriptions, I ask if I'm contagious. He said absolutely and that I'm not allowed to go back to work or really anywhere. He wrote me a prescription for a "magic mouthwash" which I have to gargle with and an antibiotic just in-case it turns into bacterial.

So I'm here Tuesday sitting on my couch for the second day in a row. As a known workaholic, I'm glad I set up where I can access my work computer from the house. You can take me out of the office but you can't make me stop working.

I've got one more day of sitting at the house and then I can go back to work on Thursday!! Still feeling weak, sore, and tired - but hoping it will be gone in a couple of days.
