1st Book Club Meeting?!

I'm not really sure if you could call it a book club meeting, per se. A couple of months back a couple girlfriends of mine spoke about always reading books and asked for suggestions from others. We thought why don't we form a book club and then we can read the same books at the same time. As a planner, I formed the group of ladies and picked the first book so I could host. As a wedding gift, we received Julia Child's Art of French Cooking, so I thought it would be fun to read the book Julie and Julia. With this group of ladies, we're the "read the book before seeing the movie type of gals." "You know the book is always better," we all say. So we were all excited to get this new book and start our book club...that's not exactly what happened.

We procrastinated, that's what happened. After trying to even get half way through this book, I decided just to hold a meeting knowing that I wasn't going to finish the book. What a book club because I think only three people made it though the book and it was a tough read. So we divulged with cheese, crackers and lots of wine.

We're a group of quotes. We laugh so much, giggle and talk that the most random sayings are being spurted out amongst the loud discussions.

Our "book club" has actually brought people together that have never met, made the shy girls branch out a little and the loud ones actually listen to what other had to say. If we didn't read the book, we still gained a lot just out of one meeting.

February Book Club Selection

To leave you with few quotes from the night:
(Mallory walked in late)
Cassie: I'll give you the summary, we all hated the book and only some of us finished it.

Speaking of a past celebration (my friends pulled me and Cassie onto a party bus for the night and Mallory came to retrieve us)
Sparkplug: I got drug out against my will.
Cassie: We made Mallory get out of bed.
Sparkplug: I needed to get rescued.

Cassie was talking a lot during book club because she actually read the book, but she didn't take a breath for anyone to interrupt. After we jokingly called her out...
Cassie: Raise your hand I understand that, I'm a 4th grade teacher.

Cassie: How do you spell moscato
Sparkplug: (shoving a bottle in front of her) Here, we have 9 bottles, use that.

Sparkplug: I just tweeted that, no one has twitter.

Sparkplug: Everytime I type texting, autocorrect changes it to testing...though he should probably do that too.

Welcome to Book Club!!
