Officially, the games of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos have begun!

Background info: The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are a minor league baseball team based in Pensacola, Florida. The team plays in the Southern League and is the Class Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball team. They play their home games at Community Maritime Park. The team, formerly the Southern League version of the Carolina Mudcats, began play in Pensacola in the 2012 season.

The team started with a win (3-1) against the Birmingham Biscuits (yep, that's really their name) on Thursday. Pensacola is pretty excited about the Double-A team being here, thank you to Mr. Quint Studer who does wonders for this community. Opening night was the talk of the town. I SO WISH I would have followed through with getting season tickets, but with "A" being out of town all of the time, we were on the fence. Newspapers, TV stations and radio hosts have been talking about Blue Wahoos non-stop. It's a great boost for our community. I can't wait to go to the games and enjoy the scenery of a ball field right next to Pensacola Bay.

After the Thursday night opening game, there was some "ahem" interesting coverage. Not quite the publicity I think the team was hoping for, but hey maybe they'll get some new fans.
